His preaching always points me to Jesus and the Cross, I have never heard him preach and not heard the gospel also preached.

VISION FOR THE CHURCH

When I look at the American Church, I feel a deep excitement about our future. The church is being called to come back to Jesus in 2021. We have an amazing opportunity to boldly proclaim why Jesus is the hope of the world. He is our Savior, and no politician, or political party, should ever take his place in our hearts.

The pandemic has also presented us with a great opportunity. We have an opportunity to love our neighbor like never before. With so many people dealing with fear and isolation, and so many of our programs and buildings having been shut down or limited in capacity, this is the time for God's people to re-imagine how the church can incarnate the good news into our neighborhoods and communities.

Covid has been hard, but God is using it to help us engage the community again as salt and light. These hard times are awakening us to the truth that the church is the people (not a building or an event), and the church is essential.

I believe these factors are being used by God to create a future where believers know their neighbors by name and they enjoy authentic friendships with people outside the church. It is a future where the church lifts up Jesus and where every man, woman and child has a daily encounter with his love in word and deed. This is the future I want to give my life to.

PASTORAL PASSIONS

UNITING PASTORS FOR GOSPEL SATURATION

Pastor Rich McCaskill worked to unite and encourage other local pastors for many years by co-founding the Seattle Area Pastors network along with Pastor Paul Dean.  The network has united hundreds of pastors to study Scripture together, to preach through books of the Bible together, and to pray collectively  for revival.

EXPLAINING THE FAITH

Driven by his heart for skeptics and those who are unsure about faith, Pastor  Rich McCaskill was honored to have his first apologetics book published with Equip Press in 2020. Questioning Christmas: 12 Conversations for Skeptics, Soul-Searchers and Thinking People Everywhere has been used by Pastors and Christian leaders in the U.S. and Canada as a ministry tool to engage real people with real questions. The book is available at local bookstores and on Amazon.

Syrian Refugees living on the border of Lebanon welcomed Pastor Rich and shared their hardships with him firsthand. Cycling through Seattle and the Eastside, the riders raised enough funds to construct 3 new homes for refugees in Lebanon and 1 new refugee home in Syria. Pastor Rich had the privilege of joining in the build with another member from Soma Eastside Church in 2017.

PROVIDING CLEAN WATER

After leading members of Soma Eastside Church on a formative trip to India, Pastor Rich launched 50/50 Wells in partnership with Michael Viser and Wells For Life. Together they revolutionized the lives of many of India's most struggling people by bringing clean water and drilling four new wells.
